Golf tournament held to assist fallen officer's family

Posted: Updated:

The family of fallen US Forest Service Officer Jason Crisp had another show of support Saturday in the town of Marion.

The local Fraternal Order of Police and McDowell County Crimestoppers sponsored a golf tournament to benefit his family.

Crisp and his K-9 partner, Maros, were ambushed by a suspect while responding to a manhunt back in March. Both died at the scene.

Crisp's widow, Amanda, said she and their two boys have been overwhelmed by community support.

"It's still very hard every day. It's still hard for the kids," she said. Crisp said there are reminders of her husband everywhere, and she takes it all minute-by-minute and day-by-day.

All proceeds raised at the tournament benefit the Crisp family.
