Glenn Beck out, Dave Ramsey in at Salisbury's WSTP

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Citing a shift in the content of the program, WSTP/Rowan Media owner Tim Coates is dumping syndicated talk show host Glenn Beck in favor of host Dave Ramsey.

"The content of the show has been a concern to us for some time and recently they added a new intro using the word 'entertainment,'" Coates told WBTV.   Some of his "news stories" could not be verified or any source located."

Coates said he had become concerned about too much political programming on WSTP, NewsRadio 1490.

"Over time we noticed Glen Beck making an increasing political shift to the right, more sensationalized news stories and an increase in religious discussions," Coates added.  "The decision to make this change is that we wanted more variety in the daytime programming."

Beck will be replaced by the Dave Ramsey Show.  Ramsey's show deals primarily with finances and questions from callers.

It is one of the most popular syndicated radio talk shows in the country.
