SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Dustin Wilson, Marketing Director for Chick-fil-A, has been named Chair of the Leadership Rowan Steering Committee for the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce. Myra Heard, City of Salisbury Clerk and Leadership Rowan 2008 graduate, previously served as the Steering Committee Chair.
Wilson will lead the Steering Committee with improved program days: History and Power; Business and the Economy; Public Education; Human Needs; Government; Criminal Justice; Communications; and Quality of Life.
The 2014-15 program will also feature new speakers on Social Media; Public Speaking; Crisis Communication; Conflict Management; Media Tours; Grant Funding; Economic Overview- How incentives work; Entrepreneurial Development; and Diversity issues/training.
Other members of the committee are: Natasha Lipscomb (Rowan Cabarrus Community College), Nick Means (F& M Bank), Greg Philpott (Novant Health Rowan Medical Center), Amy Smith (Rowan County Government), John Wear (Center for the Environment), Tyler Weant (Elium Exterminator Co) and Joey Williams (Food Lion).

For one day a month for nine-months, participants get an in-depth view of community issues, develop leadership skills necessary to assume leadership roles; and are exposed to community involvement opportunities.
The nine sessions' topics are: History and Power; Business and the Economy; Public Education; Human Needs; Government; Criminal Justice; Communications; and Quality of Life. Leadership Rowan is unlike other programs because it provides participants the opportunity to meet and discuss issues with "key" community leaders.
