Police: shoplifter needed a shave and a toothbrush

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - A Salisbury man was charged with shoplifting after police say he swiped items from the Rite Aid on E. Innes St. Monday night, and they say he did it in full view of an off duty sheriff's deputy.

According to the report, Roy Hoke Dry, III, 30, of Old Concord Road, was charged with shoplifting and drug possession.

Police say he stole a pack of Oral B spinning toothbrush heads and a pack of Gillette razors.  An off duty deputy saw the incident and detained Hoke until police arrived.

When Hoke was searched police located a blue bottle of a generic form of Xanax with 11 pills inside.  The label on the bottle showed it had been prescribed to someone other than Hoke.

Hoke was jailed under $500 bond.
