Two arrested after taxi cab driver shot in east Charlotte on Tuesday

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Two people were arrested on Tuesday in connection to the armed robbery of a taxi cab driver early that morning.

The incident was reported around 3 a.m. when the driver was dropping off a female passenger, Ericka Jones, near Washburn Avenue and Monroe Road, police say.

Police say a man then got out of a nearby car and attempted to rob the driver at gunpoint.

The cab driver, who worked for Daimond Cab Company, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Ericka Laronda Jones, 25, and Marquis Jajuan Moise, 23, were both arrested and charged.

Jones is charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Moise is charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
