Deputies: Citizen tip leads to drug store robbery arrest


A tip from a citizen has led to the arrest of a Lincoln County man in connection to a robbery of a drug store in Maiden.

The robbery happened on Monday according to deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the tip was called in around 7:00 p.m. Friday night and they contacted Maiden Police. Police and the Sheriff's Office went to a residence at 3328 Falcon Ridge Road off Highway 150 where they were given consent to search the home and a car.

Officers said they located $1,400 in cash and a trafficking amount of Oxycodone and Suboxone in 28-year-old's Ross Bradford Brown's bedroom.

Deputies said they seized a small amount of marijuana and other items from the home. 

During the investigation Brown ran from the residence but was captured following a short foot chase through a wooded area. 

Some of the drugs stolen from the drug store were recovered according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Brown is accused of taking Oxycodone and Suboxone Films valued at $2,500 from TAS Drugs during Monday's holdup. 

Maiden Police said he presented a threatening note to the pharmacy staff declaring he had a gun and demanded the staff give him certain specific controlled substance medication.

Brown is charged with one felony count each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and trafficking in opium or heroin.

Deputies said he was placed in the Lincoln County Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond. 

He is also under a $200,000 secured bond for the robbery and is on hold for Catawba County.

Detective Lt. Johnson said, "The arrest was possible due to a concerned citizen assisting law enforcement and with the cooperation of multiple law enforcement agencies working together."
