Federal agent's car broken into in south Charlotte, guns and ammo taken

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Federal agents say several guns and magazines of ammunition were stolen out of a car belonging to an agent with the FBI.

The incident was reported on Thursday to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department by the FBI.

The agent was staying at the Residence Inn on Piper Station Drive off of Rea Road.

The car was broken into between 4 p.m. on Wednesday and 6:15 a.m. on Thursday morning, according to the report.

The FBI reported two handguns, an ammo clip and a pair of handcuffs as stolen.

The total value of the stolen items is $981.
