Chance of summer storms in the forecast as the weekend arrives

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A slow moving front resides across South Carolina on Friday morning, and so, we have slightly cooler temps and lower humidity, says WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin.

Later today, that front will help trigger a couple of spotty storms, mainly south of Charlotte and up over the mountains.

Highs today will be in the mid 80s, about 5° cooler than Thursday when Charlotte reached 91°, the hottest day so far this year.

Scattered late day thunderstorms are back in the forecast for the weekend, and temperatures will continue to remain close to average with highs both days in the mid 80s.
