SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - From the City of Salisbury: The City of Salisbury is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the inaugural class of the Salisbury Citizens Academy, a ten-week academy highlighting City operations.

The Salisbury Citizens Academy will take place on Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:00 p.m. beginning September 11 and concluding November 6. Classes will meet at different City facilities and a program agenda, with locations, will be provided to program participants.

Participants will receive hands-on, inside views of City operations, including a greater understanding of how and why Salisbury provides its municipal services, such as how clean water is delivered to a residence and how the Salisbury Fire Department selects which trucks respond to certain calls.

Mayor Paul Woodson states, "We are excited about this new opportunity to engage citizens in City government. Offering this firsthand look at how the City provides its services will increase understanding of our operations and fuel the participant's desire to be more involved in our community."

Applications are available online at www.salisburync.gov<http://www.salisburync.gov>/citizensacademy, by contacting the City Clerk's Office at (704) 638-5224, or by email at mhear@salisburync.gov.
