Three-hour long standoff with Charlotte police, SWAT ends

The man involved in three-plus hour standoff with SWAT officials was found deceased in his Charlotte home by officers.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police confirm that SWAT officers were called to a home along the 9900-block of Park Ridge Road on Monday morning.

The situation ended at 11:15 a.m., more than three hours later.

Investigators say police received a 911 call of a disturbance on the 9000 block of Park Ridge Road. The incident escalated when police arrived and tried to enter at the house.

We also know there was another male or female and a child inside of the house. They were able to get out after a 911 call was made.  The man then barricaded himself inside the home.

CMPD spokesperson confirm the man shot at officers from inside his residence. No one was hit and officers did not fire back.

There were more than two-dozen police cruisers at the scene, along with two SWAT units.

Negotiators were also on the scene for several hours speaking to the man over the loudspeakers.

While the situation was ongoing several streets were closed and neighbors were told to stay inside their houses.

An investigation is still ongoing.
