More thunderstorms, localized flooding expected ahead of quiet weekend

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

After widespread heavy rain and localized flooding Thursday, WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says we're starting off much tamer on Friday morning, but he can't guarantee a quiet ending as a weak backdoor cool front will once again help trigger heavy afternoon and evening storms.

Before any storms fire, we'll be drenched in tropical humidity and readings in the mid 80s.

Finally on Saturday, the frontal boundary slides south of the area and while there still could be a morning shower around the NC/SC Piedmont, generally speaking the weekend will see a significant change in our weather.

Rain and storms will push away, and slightly cooler, drier air arrives to enhance your outdoor activities.
