Thunderstorms, some severe, remain in forecast through remainder of week

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A typical summertime pattern is locked in place - heat and humidity along with a chance of scattered thunderstorms right through Friday, says WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin.

Afternoon readings will be well up into the 80s on Tuesday and close to 90 degrees on Wednesday.

Chances for rain are fairly high Tuesday afternoon and evening - about 40 percent in any one spot - then a little lower - 20 percent - on Wednesday, as there appears to be less of a trigger.

A front is expected to slowly drift across the area Thursday into Friday and that should drop temperatures back down to the low 80s for the end of the work week and weekend.

But that front will also increase thunderstorm coverage both Thursday and Friday before tailing off over the weekend.
