Community members march to end violence in Monroe

Posted: Updated:

In Monroe, community members made a solemn March through some troubled neighborhoods Saturday morning.

Yellow ribbons were placed at locations along the march marking places where at least one homicide occurred.

Organizers said they placed 12 yellow ribbons in a two mile loop to make people aware of the violence in those neighborhoods.

Evangelist Jerry Hubbard, head of Save Our Kids ministries, said "It's time for us to come together as a community and say enough of this" in reference to the violence.

Save Our Kids Ministries and The Purple Rain Ministries organized the march.

Organizers told WBTV their prayers and hope go to every community that has felt the sting of street violence.
