ROWAN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

A 16-year-old boy was arrested at a Rowan County high school after a school resource officer reportedly found him with heroin at school.

According to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, 16-year-old Austin Hunter Graham was arrested on Thursday at South Rowan High School.

Deputies say a Landis police Officer, who serves as a school resource officer, found Graham in possession of a residue amount of heroin in a cellophane wrapper.

Undercover officers had purchased prescription drugs from Graham on two earlier occasions, in January 2014 and March 2014, as part of an ongoing undercover drug investigation.

WBTV has learned that none of the undercover drug purchases took place at a school. Deputies say there is no indication that Graham was attempting to sell narcotics at the school before his arrest.

Graham was charged with two counts of trafficking opiates by possession and two counts of trafficking opiates by sale.

Graham was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under $10,000.00 secured bond.
