Possible thunderstorm ahead of gorgeous race weekend forecast

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Scattered thunderstorms will bring a threat for severe weather to the mountains on Thursday as a cold front to our north closes in on the Carolinas.

A renegade thundershower outside of the mountains is possible as well, but widespread rain is unlikely.

The front will be draped across the region late tonight and Friday, and with that in mind, more scattered thunderstorms may pop off.

Temperatures will be in the 80s to near 90° today, but once we get behind the front, temperatures and rain chances will both drop over the Memorial Day weekend.

It looks like a perfect setup for the races at Charlotte Motor Speedway!
