A Salisbury man is behind bars after deputies say he stood in the middle of the road and yelled threats at his neighbors before firing shots.

According to a Rowan County Sheriff's Office report, deputies were called to the 700-block of Lippard Road around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday night to the report of a shooting.

When deputies arrived, multiple witnesses say 24-year-old Andrew Leontae Wood had been shooting at his neighbors.

Wood told deputies that he hadn't been shooting at anyone, but his girlfriend later said that he had, and that the gun was hidden in the glove compartment of her vehicle, according to deputies.

Several neighbors say they saw Wood shooting at his neighbors and had to seek cover. They said a similar incident had happened the night before as well.

At one point, Wood is accused of standing in the middle of the road, yelling at neighbors down the road saying "snitches gets stitches." The neighbor reportedly yelled for Wood to "shut the [expletive] up" and Wood took a shot.

Deputies ran a report on Wood and found that he may be a felon. When those deputies began to arrest him, they said he began yelling at a witness who was talking to a deputy that "You punk [expletive] [expletive], snitches get stitches."

Wood was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $150,000 bond.

He's being held on possible of firearm by a felon, assault with a deadly weapon, injury to property, communicating threats and disorderly conduct.
