We not only celebrate the 1776 signing of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, we're also reaching back in Charlotte's history to bring back the buzz. After a 12 year hiatus, the Charlotte NBA franchise officially became the Hornets again. Maybe this time around, they won't lose by 40 points on opening night in the fall like they did on opening night in 1988.
Do you know what the distracted driving law is? It says you can't text or email while behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. But what reporter David Spunt found is that police want that law re-written to ban selfies and games and all the other things smart phones do. Right now, they are having a difficult time enforcing it. And you'll be shocked at the number of people we found on the road flaunting the no texting rule.
There are new developments in the case of CMPD Officer Randal Kerrick who shot and killed and unarmed man. A judge ordered CMPD to turn over dash cam video and statements from both officers involved in the incident. Attorney's representing the dead man's family will also get to interview Kerrick.
