An investigation is underway in Lancaster after a 44-year-old inmate was found dead inside his jail cell.
According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, 44-year-old Randy W. Stevens was arrested on Monday and charged with Public Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.
He was awaiting a bond hearing.
Investigators say a correctional officer making routine rounds discovered Stevens hanging in his private cell.
Correctional Officers rushed to Stevens' aid and attempted to revive him. EMS arrived on scene and he was pronounced dead.
As with any in custody death, the State Law Enforcement Division was contacted to complete an investigation.
