A Rowan County woman was arrested after police say she shot her husband while he was trying to move out of their apartment.
The incident happened Sunday afternoon at an apartment complex on the 2300 block of Statesville Boulevard.
Police say 45-year-old Kenneth Wayne Miller was moving out of his apartment that he shared with his wife, 38-year-old Jada Lakeisha Miller.
When Kenneth Miller went to the apartment to start packing clothes, investigators say, Jada Miller began shooting at him, hitting him in the hand and torso.
Kenneth Miller was able to get outside and to his car, and began driving himself to Novant Rowan Medical Center, before pulling over and called someone to drive him the rest of the way.
He was stabilized then taken by ambulance to an undisclosed hospital. As of Monday morning, he was listed in stable condition.
Jada Miller was taken into custody at 11 p.m. after turning herself in at the Salisbury Police Department. She was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.
She is being held at the Rowan County Detention Center with no bond.
