One person was killed when they were hit by a train in Shelby on Monday.
Police say 51-year-old James Phillip Bell, of Mooresboro, was fatally struck on the railroad tracks near the N. Lafayette Street Bridge.
The incident occured around 9:30 a.m.
The train, operated by CSX, was stopped during the investigation.
