CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

An electric transformer went out at a Charlotte middle school on Thursday morning.

A spokesperson for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools says Randolph Middle School has no power.

The school is having lunch brought in for students.

Several parents brought their children lunch or came and took them home for the day.

Duke Energy is working on repairing a blown transformer in the Kilbourne Drive area.

Roughly 1,114 homes and businesses are without power in that area.

The power is estimated to be restored by 3 p.m.
