Cold front will ignite thunderstorms across region on Thursday, local flooding threat

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says once again Wednesday will be rather warm and a bit humid, making this the 11th straight day with highs in the 80s.

That's notable since our average highs have been in the 70s the entire time.

After Wednesday, more typical spring weather returns to the WBTV area, lingering right through the end of the week.

It all arrives behind a cold front which will ignite thunderstorms across the entire region on Thursday.

The system is moving slowly which will give the storms a chance to dump heavy rain as well.

Many locales will see between one and three inches of rain before it all tapers down early Friday morning.

Skies clear on Friday and the stage is set for a fantastic NASCAR weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway and the All Star race Saturday night with cooler and drier air firmly in place.
