Man sets fire to house, homeowner hurt rescuing cats

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - A Salisbury man was hurt while trying to make sure his cats were okay following a fire at his home.

According to Salisbury Police, witnesses saw a man roll up a piece of paper, set it on fire, then put it in the window of a home at 142 Ridge Avenue.  It happened on Friday night.

When the homeowner returned he saw the smoke and fell while trying to get in the house to save his cats.  The man suffered a bump on the head, the cats were not hurt.

A set of bamboo curtains was damaged and there was smoke in the house.
