Homeowner escapes townhouse heavily damaged by fire

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Charlotte Fire Department responded to a fire at a townhouse on Rockmoor Ridge Road around 1:00 a.m. Sunday.

When WBTV crews arrived, they saw extensive damage inside the home, including busted windows and damage on both the first and second floors.

The homeowner told a WBTV crew member that he had lived in the home for four and a half years and was the only person there when the fire broke out. He was able to escape unharmed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
