Stray showers a possibility as warm weekend arrives in time for Mother's Day

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says temperatures will still be well up into the 80s on Friday, but will ease back over the weekend.

As for rain, the risk increases starting late Friday afternoon in advance of a weak front approaching from the west.

Most communities will remain dry, but there will be a scattering of late-day showers across the WBTV viewing area.

Better chances to encounter showers and storms will be Saturday with a break coming Sunday, just in time for Mother's Day.

Thereafter another front arrives late Tuesday and will set the stage for another round of showers and possible storms.

Once we get behind that second front, we should see temperatures fall back to seasonal averages, in the 70s, by the latter half of next week.
