CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Boutique bandits are on the loose in Dilworth.
Two men hit the same high-end clothing store twice in one week, breaking through a glass window to steal purses, designer jeans and shirts.
The Revolution store caters to women's fashion. It sits near the corner of East Blvd. and South Blvd.
"It's a busy place, it's not isolated," said CMPD Detective Marty Cuthbertson.
The boutique sits next to offices, restaurants and homes.
On a Sunday night, just after 10:00 p.m., surveillance from inside the store shows someone breaking through the glass, then pushes a display out of the way.
Once in, a large man and another go to work quickly, gathering 30 purses valued at $400 dollars a pop. And 15 shirts and 15 designer jeans at more than $200 dollars each.
In roughly 45 seconds, they're out the window and gone.
It was such and easy job, without getting caught, that four nights later, they came back. They were wearing different clothes, but a similar disguise of bandanas and hats.
"We're talking about the same two guys. But as they ran from the store, they were dropping the clothes."
They tracked the hangers to a spot on South Boulevard, but police believe they must have jumped into a get-a-way vehicle at that point.
The question is, why did they take a risk to rob this particular boutique?
"There were a lot of designer clothes that I'm sure they can easily sell out here in the community, and probably get rid of pretty easily."
If you were in the East Boulevard area on April 27th or May 1st, police want you to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600. There is reward money available. Crime doesn't pay, but Crime Stoppers does.
