Ratliff defeated; Scarborough, Cotham, and Fuller win Meck Co Commissioners democrat primary

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

Mecklenburg County Commissioners are up for re-election.

Six commissioners are elected by district, and there are three at-large seats.

For the democrats in the at-large race: Ella B. Scarborough topped the list with 17,340 votes or 23.05%.

Commissioner Pat Cotham took the second spot with 16,764 votes or 22.29%.

Chairman Trevor Fuller received 20% or 15,047 of the votes.

Elaine Powell, with 13,073 votes {17.38%} and Commissioner Kim Ratliff, who won 13,001 votes {17.28%}, didn't make the cut.  

The top three democrat vote-getters will face republicans Scott Carlisle and Emily Zuyus in the race for at-large seats.

The only district race with a primary face-off happened in District 2 - where Commissioner Vilma Leake, with 80.5% of the votes {5,112} defeated Dondhi Burrell, who won 19.4% of the votes {1,234} - for the democrats' nomination.
