WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Senator Bill Rabon (R- 8th District) has been cited for hitting a parked car and leaving without making contact with the owner of the car he hit.

Rabon hit a parked car while backing up in a parking lot. He was cited for "failure to see before backing" according to a spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department.

Rabon had 48 hours to make contact with the owner of the other car informing them that he had hit their car.

A man said a car owned by the senator backed into his vehicle in a parking lot on Princess Street Monday night. The man was able to write get the plate number down before the car left the area. The plates matched that of William Rabon of Southport.
