LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) -

Police said the suspect who shot two women in Lancaster fatally shot himself on Willowlake Road, Saturday evening.

Police arrived at Willowlake after receiving information about the whereabouts of Sammy Lee Baskins, 48.

According to the Lancaster Police Department, as officers attempted to make contact with him, Baskins shot himself.

"He should have been a man. He did the crime, he should have made the time," one neighbor said.

Prior to that, police say 63-year-old Dorothy Mae Caskey was shot multiple times just after 12:30 p.m. at 103 Penny Street. A neighbor heard the shots ring out.

"She come running over. She was going into shock and I was too. I just told her, 'slow down, whatever you need," the woman said.

Just minutes later, 28-year-old Jameisha Latrice Clark, was shot at close range while holding a child at Palmetto Place Apartments. The child is okay.

Neighbors tell us Clark is Baskins' daughter and that the violence stemmed from a family feud.

Officers said the victims were taken to Springs Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Charlotte for treatment.

The hospital was placed on lock down as a security measure while the victims were being treated in the emergency room.

Both victims remained in the hospital on Monday in serious but stable condition.
