600 Festival Association celebrates motor sports in may

The 600 Festival Association is promoting and celebrating motor sports in the Charlotte Region on its 30th anniversary.

Jacqueline Gafrarar, General Manager of the 600 Festival Association, stopped by WBTV Saturday Morning to share this year's line-up of events.

"Movies on the Campus" will kick off the 600 Festival Association's event lineup May 9 in downtown Kannapolis, N.C. Two racing-themed movies, Disney's Planes and Six Pack, will be played on the outdoor screen beginning at 8:15 p.m.

On May 15th at 6 p.m., more than 40 NASCAR Sprint Cup SeriesTM haulers will make their way down Union Street in Concord, N.C., for "Haulers on Union."

The Tams performance at Union Street Live will begin immediately after the final hauler exits historic downtown en route to Charlotte Motor Speedway.

On May 20th, the "Little 600 Race" will take place at GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, N.C. Using the motorplex's fleet of rental karts, the 15-lap main event race will feature a full field of NASCAR drivers in addition to the Lady 600. The event will kick off at 4 p.m.

The 600 Festival™ Association's most notable event, Speed Street, will take place in Uptown Charlotte May 22-24.

The three-day event offers live entertainment, access to racing's brightest stars and interactive displays from sponsors including Coca-Cola, Chevrolet and many more. This year's musical entertainment will include headliners Who's Bad Thursday night, Thompson Square Friday night and .38 Special Saturday night.
