CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

One person was rushed to the hospital after being shot at a west Charlotte home Thursday morning.

The incident was reported at 10:46 a.m. on the 2600 block of Reid Park Lane. Neighbors say they heard about six gun shots.

Medic crews transported one person with life-threatening injuries to Carolinas Medical Center. Police say that victim is now in stable condition.

Police say a man in his late 20s was walking down the street when someone shot at him from a vehicle coming down the street.  Witnesses believe there might have been two people in the car.

The victim ran behind a home and collapsed from his wounds. Shonta Hall is the owner of the house. The shooting happened in front of her house.  Bullet holes are now seen in the front of her house.

She was at work when the shooting took place but her niece's boyfriend and his infant son were inside.

"I'm grateful they didn't get shot," Hall said. "But I mean this is sad, somebody could have really been killed."

A neighbor saw the man and called 911.  Police believe the victim and suspect know each other and possibly got into an argument before the shooting.

While police look for the shooter neighbors are wondering is their community safe.

"It's crazy," Neighbor Crovotus Johnson said. "It's very unfortunate.  It's really going to make me move out of this neighborhood."

If you have any information you are asked to call police.
