Severe weather threat ends, gorgeous weekend around the corner

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Finally, what is left of the actual cold front passes through the WBTV viewing area during the morning hours Thursday, bringing an end to the threat of severe weather for the week, says WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin.

For this reason, we still can't take showers out of the forecast until drier air arrives later in the day, Conklin says.

The best chance for that early shower will be south and east of Interstate-85.

Looking beyond, the pattern appears mainly dry, possibly for the entire remainder of the 7-day forecast - a nice change from the looming storm system hanging over most of the country's head the past several days.

In addition to the prettier skies, the temperatures will be fabulous for the Wells Fargo PGA tournament at Quail Hollow Club this weekend.
