Greensboro police ID NC A&T student killed in early morning shooting

Greensboro police have identified the North Carolina A&T State University student who died in an early-morning shooting.

WFMY News 2 reports that police say someone shot 22-year-old Jermane Clark, from Winston-Salem, in the 400 block of Stedman Street. EMS took him to the hospital, where he died.

Clark was a sophomore at A&T, and was a linebacker on the football team, WFMY reports.

The North Carolina A&T State University sent out the following alert to students and staff Wednesday morning:

The University Police Department (UPD) received a report from the Greensboro Police Department of a shooting off campus earlier this morning. There was one victim who was shot and died at the scene. The victim has been identified as a North Carolina A&T State University student. The identity is being withheld at this time until the family has been notified.

UPD urges the campus community to exercise caution when engaged in activities off campus and to be conscious of your surroundings at all times.
