BBB hosting Free document shredding on Saturday

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Today (Friday) is your last day to clean out your desks, filing cabinets and closets so you can have your old files securely shredded for free on Saturday during the BBB's nationwide "Secure Your ID" day.

"When you have financial documents in your home, you make it easy for a friend, family member or roommate to copy down your credit card number, social security number or bank account number," said BBB President Tom Bartholomy in a news release. "It's called friendly fraud and it's the fastest growing type of identity theft."

The BBB will offer free shredding to individuals and small businesses Saturday at two locations in Charlotte:
April 26, 2014 - BBB's nationwide "Secure Your ID" Day with FREE shredding from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. (rain or shine) at two locations:

           1. J.M. Robinson Middle School, located at 5925 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, N.C. 28277

           2. Shred-It parking lot, located at 3421 Axar Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28208.

Limit four large bags or boxes per car.

The BBB is partnering with Shred-It, CMPD and the N.C. Consumer Fraud Task Force.
