After winning their first ever state championship in basketball, the Myers Park Lady Mustangs picked a very prestigious national honor.
Today at the school, Myers Park was honored on the MaxPreps Tour of Champions after finishing 25th in the country.
Myers Park is 1 of 10 teams in the country to receive such recognition out of the 20,000 programs in the country that play girl's varsity basketball.
"To be nationally recognized like this out of 20 thousand teams is an honor that is indescribable," said Myers Park senior guard Saadia Timpton.
The ladies went 30-1 and beat Southeast Raleigh in the 4A state title game. In the last 2 years, Myers Park has an outstanding record of 59-2.
"This is physical proof of all the work we have put in," said Timpton. "We have a conference championship trophy, we have a state championship trophy, and now we have this one to add to our new gym we are building."
