Porter Ridge has a new head football coach and it is Zach Bevilacqua. Last season, Bevilacqua was offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at West Rowan.
He spent 5 years at North Lincoln as offensive line coach and was named interim head coach in 2011 for a season.
His first high school coaching job came at West Lincoln High School as he was the defensive line coach.
Bevilacqua is a graduate of Butler High School and played on the 2nd ever football team at the school. Porter Ridge and Butler are both in the Southwestern 4A Conference and he looks forward to competing against his alma mater.
"I was happy to be a part of the base of what Butler football is today," said Bevilacqua. "When we do play Butler, it is not going to be just another game for me. My job now is to get Porter Ridge ready to play football." The Pirates will welcome the Bulldogs to the "Bone Yard" this fall.
As far as building on the Porter Ridge program, coach says this team will not rest on past success. The Pirates are 48-10 in the last 4 years.
The Pirates will certainly have some talent to challenge in the Southwestern 4A in 2014 led by QB Isaiah Hicklin.
