A former Iredell County man has been charged with a laundry list of sex crimes against a child.

Bobby Lee Barton, 38, of Brunswick County, is charged with seven counts of first degree sex offense, four counts of statutory rape, seven counts of crimes against nature and seven counts of indecent liberties with a child, according to police in Troutman.

Investigators in Brunswick County contacted Troutman police on March 26 about the possible crimes.

Barton lived in Troutman for about seven years, police say.

After interviewing him in Brunswick County, he was arrested and charged.

The crimes occurred over that seven year period.

Barton is in the Iredell County Jail under a $3 million bond.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more charges are likely to develop.
