A knife was confiscated from a student at Kings Mountain Intermediate on Thursday, school officials said.

Kings Mountain Police say officers were called to the school on Thursday morning at 8:13 a.m.

The incident involved two juveniles whose names cannot be released due to their age, police told WBTV. One juvenile was assaulted by another but received no injuries.

A school spokesman told WBTV nobody was injured in the incident.

"Yesterday at Kings Mountain  Intermediate School there was an incident involving a student who had a pocketknife. No one was injured," KMIS Principal Henry Gilmore told WBTV.

"Students followed procedures taught through PBIS (positive behavior intervention support), and immediately reported what they saw to the teacher."

Gilmore says the teacher confiscated the pocketknife after being notified.

The investigation around the incident has been handed over to police. The school says it will take appropriate disciplinary action

WBTV has learned that a letter will be sent out to parents on Thursday.
