MONROE, NC (WBTV) -

Monroe Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for two business break-ins.

The first happened Tuesday just after midnight at the Dollar General on Sunset Drive. Police say someone damaged the front door, then went inside and stole a donation jar.

The next night, police responded to Buddy's Point Restaurant on Franklin Street after the front door glass was broken and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from inside.

Investigators soon determined the two break-ins were related and developed 52-year-old Henry Ellis Gainey as a potential suspect.

Gainey was then arrested and charged with two counts of felony larceny and two counts of injury to real property.

He was taken to the Union County Jail and placed under a $7,500 bond.
