CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The line-up shake-up paid off a second time in three days for the Reds beating the Pirates, 7-5, to cap off a long day at the ballpark.

The Reds had to complete Monday's suspended game before Tuesday's scheduled first pitch.  The Reds dropped the first game, but banged out a season high 15 hits in the night cap to put themselves in position to win their first series of the season.

Joey Votto reached base all five times and tied a career high with 4 hits.  He now has five RBI in the four game since he's moved from third in the Reds batting order to second.

"Sometimes there's no rhyme or reason to what happens in baseball, I don't want to put it all on that we've shuffled the line-up," said Bryan Price.  "Guys are more comfortable and we appreciate and understand that it's early in the season.  We'd like to have a better record than we do, but we just want to play better baseball.  That's the goal."

Todd Frazier and Mike Leake both homered for the Reds. Leake tied a career high with eight strike outs on the mound.

The Reds will win their first series of the season if they beat the Pirates on Wednesday.  Johnny Cueto will make his first start against Pittsburgh since last season's playoff loss in Pittsburgh.
