Heisey hits slam, Mesoraco 4 RBIs as Reds top Rays

The Reds busted out of a season long offensive slump to take the series finale with Tampa Bay, 12-4.

Joey Votto, Devin Mesoraco and Chris Heisey all homered in support of starting pitcher Tony Cingrani, who won his first game of the year.  Heisey hit a pinch hit grand slam, the first of his major league career.

"Hitting a grand slam is pretty cool, it's my first one," said Heisey.  "After four years in the big leagues it's nice to get that one off my back."

"Our offense finally had a chance to erupt," said Joey Votto after batting second in the order a second straight day.  "It was a really good game, I though the offense was spread out really well today."

Jay Bruce reached base all five times and Brandon Phillips had three hits as the Reds won the series finale for the third time this season.

"None of us here have panicked or worried," said Jay Bruce of the Reds 3-8 start.  "That's the way the game goes and we're just going to continue working."

Tony Cingrani pitched into the 7th inning and allowed only two runs.  He lowered his ERA to 2.60 and evened his record at 1-1.

The Reds improve to 4-8 on the season and host the Pirates for the start of a three game series Monday at GABP.
