GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) - Officers with the Gastonia Police Department responded to a domestic dispute call around 11:00 Friday night at the Mid-Town Motor Inn on Chester Street. Upon arrival, they entered one of the rooms to find two occupants and the ingredients used to make meth.
Sergeant Doug Carpenter told WBTV that it was apparent that meth had been made in the motel room.
The two occupants had to be decontaminated by hazmat crews before they could be taken to jail. Sergeant Carpenter said the officers who discovered the meth lab were exposed to the chemicals, but would not require decontamination.
The State Bureau of Investigation and hazmat crews are investigating.
