CONCORD, NC (WBTV) -

The old Phillip Morris plant in Concord has been sold to a developer, WBTV's David Whisenant reports.

The plant was sold to Victory Industrial Park, LLC.

Officials have not said what the plant will be used for or what the sale price was.

The plant laid off 180 workers in 2008 and shuttered its doors completely in 2010, laying off a workforce of 1,700 people.

The 3.5 million square foot plant was recently put up for sale.

It sits on the 2300 block of Concord Parkway South near Roberta Church Road.

The city of Concord released a statement on the sale of the property.

"After many years, we have received word from Altria of the sale of their former Philip Morris property to Victory Industrial Park. The thousands of acres of land and millions of square feet of buildings should play a crucial role in the development of new jobs in Concord. The City of Concord looks forward to working with Victory Industrial Park in the future."
