CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The name of a 46-year-old woman who was found dead after a house fire in north Charlotte has been released.
According to a report from Charlotte police, 46-year-old Jin Hee Daniels' body was found after a fire sparked at her home along the 5100 block of Poplar Springs Drive on Wednesday afternoon.
From the outside of the home it appears the fire caused minimal damage, but inside firefighters found Daniels and a dog dead.
Firefighters say there was light smoke coming from the home when they arrived around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.
"Firefighters put the fire out, were able to knock down the fire pretty quickly bringing the incident under control, but unfortunately we do have a deceased victim," said Captain Mark Basnight with the Charlotte Fire Department.
The fire investigation task force and CMPD arrived after the flames were out and put up yellow tape around the home. Investigators are not revealing how Daniels died or what caused the fire.
"There's no early indication that there's any foul play involved but we are considering this a death investigation," said Basnight.
A neighbor said Daniels lived in the home alone with her black lab. Firefighters said they could not confirm that information until the victim's family was notified.
No firefighters were reported injured.
