Three students in Gaston County have donated more than 700 pounds of dog and cat food to the Gaston County Animal Control Division.
This year, while planning their 13th birthday party, twins Claire and Camille , both students at Cramerton Middle School and their friend Lucas Larrazabal, a student at Grier Middle School, decided that instead of receiving gifts themselves they wanted to do something to help others.
With this in mind they ultimately decided upon helping animals at the Gaston County Animal Shelter.
So when invitations went out for their birthday party, a message printed on each one read, "In lieu of gifts please bring a bag of dog or cat food for the Gaston County Animal Shelter."
The night of the party, March 14, attendees were so generous that over 700 pounds of dog and cat food was received for animals at the shelter.
