Boil water advisory lifted for town of Mooresville

MOORESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

A boil water advisory has been lifted in the town of Mooresville following a water main break on Tuesday.

Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system, the town said in a news release.

The Division of Water Resources says that consumers should boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.

Vigorous boiling for on minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.

The North Carolina Division of Water Resources and Mooresville's Public Utilities Department is strongly urging water consumers to conserve water whenever possible.
