Line of storms creates possibility for severe weather across region on Monday

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Between one to two inches of rain has already fallen across the WBTV region and another round is set to move in this afternoon, says WBTV Meteorologist Ashley Batey.

This second round will bring with it the chance of severe storms during the afternoon hours.

The most likely threat are straight-line winds, but isolated tornadoes are still possible.

Heavy downpours could also bring flooding.

The most likely area to see severe weather is the region south of Interstate-85, Batey says.

Even without thunderstorms, we will be watching for the possibility of flooding.

Showers continue through Monday night, but it looks like we should see a little sunshine at times on Tuesday.

There is a slight chance of showers Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, but Wednesday afternoon should be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 60s.

Sunny and near 70 for Thursday with mid 70s returning for Friday on through the weekend.
