A terrible night at Fort Hood Army base in central Texas. Hello everyone, this is Paul Cameron in the WBTV Newsroom getting ready for tonight's 11:00 news.
Four people, including a gunman are dead. At least 14 others have wounds. Sources are telling CBS News the shooter is identified as 34-year-old soldier Ivan Lopez. A source says the violence apparently stemmed from some sort of soldier dispute. This comes in the same place where Army Maj. Nidal Hasan opened fire in a deadly rampage more than four years ago, killing 13 unarmed people. Hasan has since been sentenced to death.
We're also following the story of a masked man who police say tried to lure a teenage girl into his car. Thankfully - she was smart enough to run away, but the incident has parents on alert in Gastonia.
Bad news for some 135 Family Dollar employees who will lose their jobs in a company cut-back. Family dollar cites increased efficiency as a reason for making the job cuts.
