Report: Typewriter sparks bomb scare at Wal-Mart

GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) -

A typewriter inside a shopping cart sparked a scare at a Gaston County Wal-Mart which resulted in the bomb squad being called out.

According to a report from Gastonia police, officers were called to a suspicious package at the Wal-Mart Supercenter along the 220-block of N. Myrtle School Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Someone told officers there was an item in a shopping cart that had been at the store for two days.

Police called in the bomb squad around 12:42 p.m. on Wednesday.

Investigators found out the item was a typewriter, valued at ten dollars, according to the report.

The typewriter was given back to store officials to be placed in Lost and Found.
