Remembering Officers Sean Clark and Jeff Shelton

Seven years ago, two Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department officers were shot in the line of duty on a routine call in east Charlotte.

What happened afterwards wasn't at all routine.

34-year-old Officer Sean Clark died at the scene in east Charlotte.  35-year-old Jeff Shelton died hours later at the hospital.  Two dedicated police officers murdered in one quick moment.

To this day, Demetrius Montgomery, the man who shot them both at point blank range has never shown a bit of remorse.  In 2010 he was sentenced to life in prison.  In 2012 he lost his final appeal.

These murders rocked our community, and the families who handled the roller coaster of the years that followed.
